TFF: Brain FRIyed.

Hey Ladies,

So Take Five Friday went on the back burner for a while when I booted up my YouTube channel and Facebook page but alas I want to bring it back as around this time of year pre-Xmas I get extra cranky. My parentals think I have S.A.D to be fair I probably do but it could also be the fact that people are extra annoying at this time of the year!

Anyways, here are some of the things (not all bad) that have been bothering me lately!

1. It being dark at like 4 o'clock which means you want to do the whole get cosy, watch a movie and go to bed early. Zero work done....zero.

2. People using makeup straight from the testers in Boots. Yep that eye infection is free of charge and I sure do hope you don't mind cold sores. Have you ever heard of eyelash lice? Oh they exist too. No thank you.

3. Brooklyn being bloody BRILLIANT but giving me all the feels, I sobbed. If you haven't seen it yet book tickets ASAP.

4. The huns in the toilets on a night out reapplying their neon pink/red lipstick pure gee-eyed. The hair gets higher and the lips get bigger.

5. Makeup Geek launches on Beauty Bay this week.....EEP! My bank account is going to get an awful fright, no Christmas presents this year...OOPS.

So has anything put a bee in your bonnet this week? Or is it all sunshine and rainbows? Tell me in the beautiful box below!

Summer Saviour!

Hey Ladies,

Sloughing off the dead skin, preparing the tootsies and de-furring yourself from looking like a yeti (think Harry Henderson) are all the signs that Summer is on its way. Now being in Ireland Summer may make its appearance any day so you need to be prepared!

One product for me that is really standing out in the run up to Summer is the Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Lotion in Almond Cream with Hibiscus. Firstly this product smells incredible, which normally for me would be a huge turnoff because my skin is so sensitive and reactive that any sort of smell would result in a breakout/rash. The scent also lingers for quite a bit which is sooo nice as most scented body moisturisers I have tried don't hold their scent throughout the day.

This is a light lotion that absorbs into the skin quickly so no standing around freezing waiting for it to dry and it doesn't feel sticky once you get dressed. If you have been scrubbing your skin half to death to get it Summer ready this product really hydrates and nourishes the skin even if you only use it 2 times a week it holds its own and keeps the skin hydrated on the days you aren't using it.

It is definitely a must have for the Summer season and it also comes in a body wash so you need to skip to your local Boots quickfast and take a look (or a sniff)!

Love,
S

Cheap As Chips Brush Cleaner

Hey Ladies,
In my last post you may have seen that I picked up MAC brush cleaner.... for the steep price of 11quid! I bought this for my professional freelance kit, I only want to use the best products on my clients if they are paying me. But what do I use personally when I'm doing my own make-up? Certainly not the MAC brush cleanser.

Instead, I prefer to pick up a small bottle of surgical spirits in my local pharmacy or Boots. It's cheaper than the MAC Cleanser, and it does just as good a job. For a small bottle of surgical spirits it is 3.14, a total bargain.I then switch it to a much easier to use bottle for ready to go cleaning. The spray bottle you see here I picked up in Boots for around 3quid and it has lasted me ages! Every time I run out of spirits, I buy a new bottle and give the spray bottle a clean, pour the goodness in and your ready to go.

Please note, I do add a tiny bit of water in with my spirits as it sometimes can be very harsh on your brushes! Also, surgical spirits isn't the proper way to wash your brushes, it's only really for on the spot cleaning, brushes harbour bacteria and need to be cleaned after a couple of uses(on yourself that is)... please check out my post on how to wash your makeup brushes here.

What's your favourite brush cleaner?
Love,
S
