Disappointing Products (Singular) #2

Hey Ladies,

It isn't all sunshine and roses around here and as a blogger I try out so many products. Quite often I find a dud in the mix. I think it's important to share disappointing products especially when they are from a luxury brand!

This time round we are going to be discussion MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black. Right from the get go I didn't like this product, the packaging for me is just so blah and it is quite small for the €21 price tag. I think with a liquid eye liner the applicator is the deal breaker, considering it is so hard to get the perfect smooth line the applicator should be easy to use and manageable for whatever your skill level with makeup. The applicator on this particular eyeliner is a stiff short pointed sponge that is really difficult to move over the eye and as it is quite stubby it's hard to get into the inner corner of your eye and create a thin liner.
The eyeliner itself is very liquidy and when you put it on your eyelid it can run and spread like watercolour. If you manage to complete a decent liner and want to go back in to make it darker, simply don't. It pulls on the liner you have already done and basically removes it. If you follow me on Snapchat you would have seen me use it in one of my Snaptorials and how it ruined my makeup that day. MAC claim it to be smudge resistant, I think not.

I will be bringing this Back2MAC as one of my items as I really don't think it is worth the hassle for me. I would rather stick to my KatVonD Tattoo Liner or Inglot 77! I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. Do you have any disappointing products that you have tried recently? If so, let me know in the comments below.

AVON Haul

Hey Ladies,
Recently one of my friends became an Avon Representative in my local area and like any girl would do I gave the catalogue a good reading and ordered some things. My friend held an AVON party in her home to show off the products and to encourage buyers, she asked me to come along and do some make-up looking using the AVON products.but the only problem was that I didn't own any AVON so I picked up some essentials for creating a simple smoky eye that anyone could do! After the party had ended I ordered some more products for my kit as the girls at the party had recommended them to me.

I thought I would share these products with you because the are super cheap, really great quality and widely available. Search on the AVON website to find a representative in your area and support them as this is a tough job! I will leave all of the prices below and I will also link you to the most recent catalogue so you too can have a browse.

Some of the products mentioned you may have seen some of the bigger You Tubers like the Pixiwoo girls talk about. They are always raving about the SuperShock eye liners! Naturally I just had to try them because they like them.

True Colour 4 in 1 Palette

Cheap As Chips...But It's Crap!

Hey Ladies,
Ever see that product that only costs like 1.50euro and you just get it out of pure impulse. I hate that and it is how I ended up with this gel liner from Pennys/Primark. When I first bought it I was sceptical but, gave it ago and it was drying and irritating on my eyes. This product is okay for someone doing outlandish make-up looks and using it all over the face. But, even at that I would have a fear of breaking a client out in a rash.

This product came out just before Pennys/Primark brought out their Lichtenstein inspired make up range. Ever since, it has just been taking up space in my drawer and gathering dust.

In the bin it went!

Have you ever bought a product like that?

Out For Lunch

Hey Ladies,
Here's an all about the eyes look I did the other day when I went to lunch with my sister. I used a lot of highlighter in this look along with white eye liner to make this look a bit more noticeable than the average neutral look. I also used my new MAC Viva Glam lipstick which is featured in this post here. This look is quick and is easy to re create!

Black and White Photo-Shoot

Hey Ladies,
Here is a look I did before Christmas in my course and I think its a great look that could be recreated. This photo shoot was also an exam and we had to do a coloured smoky eye so I chose a purple smoky eye then the photos would be take in black and white! I had more photo graphs that are greater quality and really show how it looked in person but a girl from college has them :(

Hope you enjoy and if you want me to do a tutorial of how to do this look, just leave me a comment.
Love,
S

De-Potting Lipsticks

Hey Ladies,
If you are a budding make-up artist student or do freelance artist this tip may be of great help to you. If like me you bring all your make-up to a job/shoot/class it gets very very heavy and you have a bazillion things in your bag. So, to cut down on some of the un-necessary packaging and to create less of a weight I have de-potted my lipsticks. I bought this little plastic palette from Muji and it only cost around 4euro. I keep two of these in my collection, one for MAC lipsticks and one for other lipsticks like Rimmel, Barry M etc.

To depot your lipsticks you will need either a butter knife or a spatula, that has been disinfected. You will also need your container that has also been disinfected.
Begin by cutting into the lipstick with the knife/spatula to remove the top. Once it has come away from the tube, drop the bullet into the container as you will need your spatula.

Then, if you know MAC lipsticks they always have a load of product in the end of the tube that goes to waste if you don't know its there. So taking your spatula, dig the spatula down a side of the tube, then turn the spatula a little bit to the left to scoop out the product, it should just slide out. Then put it in the container with the rest of the bullet and smooth it down with the spatula.

If there is any more lipstick left in the tube just scoop it out with your spatula.

Then once that is done, take a label and write the name of the lipstick under neath the container so you know what it is. My sister is going to get me nice labels printed in work so I just use a piece of masking tape for now until the palette is full.

I find this tip really useful because your lipsticks are kept hygienically in a container that is easily transportable and super easy to clean. I am thinking about melting all of the lipsticks down so they don't move around, if I do I'll do a post on it!

Look out for an up coming post on what to do with those empty MAC containers.

Love,
S
